Dr. Avery attended DePaul University in Chicago, IL and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996. After graduating from DePaul, she remained in Chicago and worked as a social worker for six years. Although she enjoyed her experience in social work, she maintained aspirations for a career in healthcare, which led her to eventually pursue dentistry.
Dr. Avery attended Marquette University School of Dentistry from 2002 to 2006 and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery. Her experience in social work gave her the opportunity to learn how to work with individuals during difficult times. Dr.Avery entered the dental profession with hopes of making dentistry a positive and comfortable experience for her patients. She believes in a comprehensive approach towards dentistry and educating patients to recognize the significance of maintaining good oral health.
Dr. Avery is a member of the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association, the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Lake County Dental Society. Dr.Avery serves as a mentor in a mentorship program sponsored by the Pierre Fauchard Academy/WDA/MUSOD and volunteers at various dental screening programs throughout the year,including Give Kids A Smile and Head Start. Dr. Avery is on the Board of Directors for the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association.
Dr. Avery was born in Panama City, Panama and is fluent in Spanish. She currently lives in downtown Milwaukee with her husband Gary, and enjoys cooking, music, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
